Realtor Build

Play an integral role in helping families have a decent place to live.

“Habitat for Humanity doesn't simply take wood and build homes, it takes hope and builds opportunity. It isn't just a house, it's an opportunity for a family to change their path.”

Nick HamiltonFormer Habitat Homeowner, Current Habitat Board Member

Regular volunteers and donors are key to the success of our mission. There are many ways to lend a hand at Habitat! Read a bit about our current opportunities below, select the ones you are interested in learning more about, and submit the form on this page. Once we receive the form, our Volunteer Coordinator will work with you to find the perfect role that fits your schedule and interests!

Homebuilding

We’re best known for our homebuilding program where volunteers build and rehab simple, high-quality homes in partnership with low-income families and the community.

As a Habitat volunteer, you’ll get the opportunity to put your hands to a hammer and help us build great homes, alongside families in need. Whether you’d like to volunteer once, as a team, or be a part of our GoTo Crew, we’ve got a spot for you.

ReStore

The Lake Agassiz Habitat ReStore is a home improvement store where new, gently-used building and repair materials are sold at discounted prices. At the ReStore, you can SHOP. DONATE, or VOLUNTEER: it all helps us serve more families.

As a ReStore volunteer, you’ll be called upon to help in our ReStore, moving products, running the till, cleaning the store, and more. You can help once or as many times as it fits in your schedule. Plus, as a volunteer, you’ll get the first look at some of our great products.

Donor

As they say, No Money = No Mission. While Habitat Homes are not free to our partner families, our mission would not be possible without the financial support of those who invest in our work.

As a Habitat donor, you will provide the funding needed to purchase land, building materials, and tools, pay subcontractors, and all of the other things that come with building homes. What is really neat about being a Habitat donor is that you are investing in a tangible item that will help a family break their cycle of poverty, which will change their lives, their kids’ lives, and their grandkids’ lives. Plus, EVERY DONATION, to our mission is matched by our partner families. Their mortgage payments are paid forward and used to help build future homes.

Real Estate

With no land, we cannot build homes. As a Realtor / Lender, you are in the perfect position to help us acquire land to build on or homes that can be renovated to suit our families.

Real estate donations can be a phenomenal tax benefit to those who support our work, as well. If you have a client with land (single lots, many acres, or anything in between, we’d love to have a conversation.

Deconstruction

Did you know that we not only build homes, we deconstruct them too? When homes are being renovated or torn down, our Deconstruction team will remove salvageable items and sell them in our ReStore.

As a Deconstruction member, you’ll be called upon to help when those decons come up, usually every couple of weeks, providing you with plenty of opportunities to join this group when you can. This team will also be called upon to help move office furniture when we get corporate donations.

Family Mentor

The families we serve take on a big, life-changing task when they are selected; having someone they can lean on and who can help them navigate this process helps ensure success.

As a GoTo Crew – Family Mentor member, you’ll be called upon to provide a family with a bit of extra support through the process. You might serve as a sounding board, to help with paperwork, help them evaluate insurance options, or simply to help encourage them through the long process of becoming a homeowner.
