Regular volunteers are key to the success of our mission. There are many ways to lend a hand at Habitat! Read a bit about our current opportunities below, select the ones you are interested in learning more about, and submit the form on this page. Once we receive the form, our Volunteer Coordinator will work with you to find the perfect role that fits your schedule and interests!
We’re best known for our homebuilding program where volunteers build and rehab simple, high quality homes in partnership with low-income families and the community.
As a GoTo Crew – Homebuilding member, you’ll be called upon to bring your building skills and help us on a regular basis (what “regular” means is up to you) and on days when we need to catch up.
The Lake Agassiz Habitat ReStore is a home improvement store where new and gently-used building and repair materials are sold at discounted prices.
As a GoTo Crew – ReStore member, you’ll be called upon to provide regular help in our ReStore, where you’ll move products, run the till, clean the store, and more.
Did you know that we not only build homes, we deconstruct them too? When homes are being renovated or torn down, our Deconstruction team will remove salvageable items and sell them in our ReStore.
As a GoTo Crew – Deconstruction member, you’ll be called upon to help when those decons come up, usually every couple of weeks, providing you with plenty of opportunities to join this group when you can. This team will also be called upon to help move office furniture when we get corporate donations.
The families we serve take on a big, life-changing task when they are selected; having someone they can lean on and who can help them navigate this process helps ensure success.
As a GoTo Crew – Family Mentor member, you’ll be called upon to provide a family a bit of extra support through the process. You might serve as a sounding board, to help with paperwork, help them evaluate insurance options, or simply to help encourage them through the long process of becoming a homeowner.
We have lots of opportunities to set up information tables at things like the Street Fair, Cruise Nights, church events, and more, but we don’t have the staff to do them all.
As a GoTo Crew – Street Team member, you’ll be called upon to help share the message of our mission by staffing the tables, inviting neighbors to our wall raisings/dedications, speaking to service organizations, and anything else you feel comfortable with.
We’ve got more work to do than our staff can handle, much of it is repetitive and time-consuming.
As a GoTo Crew – Office member, you’ll be called upon to provide assistance in the Habitat office. This work could consist of: helping with paperwork, helping to organize mailings, ensuring items are ready for events, cleaning the office, answering phones, entering donations, and more. Some of this work could be done from home as well. You can pick and choose the work that suits you best.
