Committee Structure

Become a part of Habitat for Humanity
Construction/Building Team
- Members to include architects, carpenters, concrete workers, plumbers, electricians, utility and building supply persons
- Secure house plans that fit families and lots
- Coordinate weekly build projects
- Send out bids to build partners and sub-contractors
Family Mentor Team
- Work with partner families to make house choices, provide mentoring during build process, and home ownership consultation
- Work with families to continue prompt, regular mortgage payments
- Provide referrals for services homeowners may need

Volunteer Team
- Organize and contact volunteers
- Coordinate the setting up of time and places to work
- Set criteria for volunteer recognition and organize appreciation events
Site Selection Team
- Seek out possible build location in the area
- Follow through on prospective properties to get clear title for LAHFH
- Maintain sites owned by LAHFH—grass cutting, snow removal
- Consult with construction building team to ensure lots are “build ready”—survey, water and sewer hook-ups
Family Selection Team
- Make applications available to prospective partner families
- Screen applications and verify information in applications
- Interview families and references
- Recommend partner families to the board
- Liaison
Public Relations Team
- Write articles for, solicit other stories for, and publish newsletter
- Coordinate with church relations on mailings to the churches
- Organize any publicized events that involve LAHFH
- Seek out opportunities to share the Habitat story and get others involved
- Seek out and implement opportunities to thank donors and express appreciation for efforts on that support and further the mission of LAHFH
Church Relations Team
- Encourage area churches to enter into covenants with LAHFH
- Coordinate youth group and church group work teams
- Assist with establishing long-term financial support from churches
Resource Development Team
- Work with church relations to enter into covenants with area churches for funding
- Maintain and increase local individual donor support and house sponsorship base
- Seek grant opportunities and secure funding through granting agencies
- Maintain the carpenters club membership
ReStore Team
- Work toward addressing any urgent needs as well as daily operational concerns to the board of directors on issues affecting the ReStore
- To provide an outlet for communication between restore volunteers and staff
- To address any concerns, thank you’s, or necessary reminders regarding daily operations
- To creatively and effectively promote the good work we are doing to area businesses and individuals while also asking for donations and encouraging people to come and shop
Youth Programs
- Coordinate, develop and implement projects with local habitat for Humanity Campus Chapers at Minnesota State University, North Dakota State University and Concordia College - Moorhead
- Work with youth organizations in the area (schools, churches) to help further the mission of Habitat for Humanity
- Present opportunities for youth involvement by International Habitat for Humanity
